Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," stated ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had led some to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an better serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
